The 2.0 µm Thulium-doped fiber laser band opens wavelength ranges that Ytterbium and Erbium sources cannot reach. This industrial single-frequency seed source operates at 1950 nm with sub-50 kHz linewidth, linear polarization output through PM1950 or SM1950 fiber, and an all-fiber construction that holds performance across the operating temperature range from -10 to 45°C.
It is designed as the seed stage in high-power 2.0 µm MOPA systems, as a direct source for coherent 2.0 µm LiDAR transceivers, and as a pump source for mid-infrared nonlinear conversion. Mode-hop-free operation, high-power amplification compatibility, and a compact 175 × 140 × 25 mm form factor make it suitable for both laboratory instruments and industrial system integration.
PRODUCT FEATURE
- Sub-50 kHz Linewidth, Single Longitudinal Mode — Narrow linewidth CW output at 1950 nm with optical signal-to-noise ratio above 50 dB. Single longitudinal mode operation maintained across the full output power adjustment range of 10 to 100%.
- Linear Polarization with High PER — Polarization extinction ratio above 23 dB through PM1950 fiber. SM1950 output also available. Direct compatibility with downstream PM fiber amplifiers and polarization-sensitive instrument architectures.
- All-Fiber Industrial Construction — All-fiber design eliminates free-space optical elements that are sensitive to vibration and temperature cycling. Operating temperature range of -10 to 45°C supports deployment in industrial environments as well as laboratory setups.
- High-Power Amplification Compatible — Output power and spectral characteristics are optimized for use as the seed in multi-stage Thulium-doped fiber amplifier chains. Stable power output with peak-to-peak stability at or below 1% supports clean amplification without seed-level noise injection.
APPLICATIONS
- Mid-Infrared Pumping — The 1950 nm output is used as a pump source for nonlinear frequency conversion stages targeting wavelengths in the 3 to 5 µm mid-infrared band, including optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) and difference frequency generation (DFG) systems. The narrow linewidth and stable single-mode output of this seed maximize conversion efficiency in these nonlinear stages.
- Coherent LiDAR at 2.0 µm — Coherent Doppler wind LiDAR systems at 2.0 µm benefit from the strong atmospheric transmission window at this wavelength and the eye-safe operating range. This seed source provides the narrow linewidth and single-mode output required for coherent detection, either as a direct transmitter seed or as the master oscillator in a MOPA transmitter chain.
- Medical Laser Applications — The 2.0 µm Thulium band has strong water absorption, making it the standard wavelength for soft tissue surgical lasers, minimally invasive procedures, and urological laser applications. This seed source is used as the oscillator stage in medical fiber laser systems requiring precise wavelength control and stable output at 1950 nm.
